Echo Spark Plug: The Right Number for Your Engine
Most 21-25cc Echo handhelds and CS-series chainsaws share one spark plug, NGK BPM8Y/BPMR8Y (Echo 15901019830). The bigger 33cc SRM-2620/3020 class needs a different plug, NGK CMR7H (Echo A425000060) - the two are not interchangeable.
Nearly every Echo handheld looks like it takes the same spark plug - same thread, same reach, same general size sitting under the same plastic cap. It does not. Echo spreads three different plugs across the range, and the single most common ordering mistake is not picking the wrong plug at all - it is ordering the spark plug cap when the plug itself was the part that failed.
This page sorts the genuine numbers by engine family and tells the cap apart from the plug. For reading a fouled plug to diagnose a no-start, see why an Echo won't start - this page covers which part to buy once you already know it is the plug.
The 21-25cc family: SRM, GT, PE, HC, PAS, PB-250
Echo's whole run of 21.2-25.4 cc handhelds - the SRM-210, SRM-225, SRM-230, GT-200, GT-225, PE-200, PE-225, HC-150, PAS-225 and the PB-250 handheld blower - share one genuine spark plug, Echo part 15901019830. It cross-references to NGK BPM8Y (the resistor version sold as BPMR8Y is the same physical plug and fits the same engines), and independently to Champion RCJ8Y. All three numbers show up on genuine and aftermarket listings for this exact engine group, confirmed across more than half a dozen separate sellers.
This is the same family documented on the SRM-225 parts page as sharing filter, primer bulb and fuel lines across the engine - the plug is one more part on that shared list.
The same physical NGK BPM8Y/BPMR8Y also turns up on the mid-size PB-770T / PB-770H backpack blower, despite that machine's 63.3cc engine being otherwise unrelated to this trimmer family.
CS-series chainsaws run the resistor version
Echo's homeowner chainsaws - CS-370, CS-400, CS-400F, CS-420ES, and the same ignition family across CS-271T, CS-520, CS-530, CS-550P, CS-600P, CS-670 - take the resistor-suffix NGK BPMR8Y, the same physical plug as the handheld family above but consistently listed with the R. Aftermarket cross-references for the CS-400 specifically point to Champion RCJ6Y (852) and Autolite 2974 rather than the RCJ8Y used for the trimmer family - the NGK number is shared, the Champion cross is not, which is the kind of detail that trips people up when they shop by cross-reference chart instead of by NGK number.
If a CS-400 cranks and runs but misses under load, check the fuel system first - see the CS-400 chainsaw parts page for the carburetor and recoil starter numbers.

Plug numbers by family
| Family | Genuine Echo number | NGK cross | Models |
|---|---|---|---|
| 21-25cc handheld | 15901019830 | BPM8Y / BPMR8Y | SRM-210/225/230, GT-200/225, PE-200/225, HC-150, PAS-225, PB-250 |
| CS-series chainsaw | same physical plug | BPMR8Y | CS-370/400/400F/420ES, CS-271T/520/530/550P/600P/670 |
| 33cc class | A425000060 | CMR7H | SRM-2620/3020, BRD-2620, PAS-2620, PE-2620, PPF-2620, PPT-2620, SHC-2620, HCA-2620, CS-2511T, PB-8010H |
The bigger 33cc class needs a different plug entirely
Step up to Echo's 33cc-class engines - the SRM-2620 and SRM-3020 trimmers and the shared platform across BRD-2620, CS-2511T, HCA-2620, PAS-2620, PB-8010H, PE-2620, PPF-2620 and SHC-2620 - and the plug changes to Echo part A425000060, crossing to NGK CMR7H rather than the BPM8Y used on the smaller range. Fitting a BPM8Y where a CMR7H belongs (or the reverse) is a thread and reach mismatch, not a minor substitution - the two are not interchangeable despite both being common small-engine plugs.
The spark plug is just one part of that split - the carburettor, air filter and fuel line kit all change too on the SRM-2620. The full numbers are on the SRM-2620 parts page.
The same A425000060/CMR7H plug also fits Echo's largest backpack blower, the PB-9010H/T and PB-8010H/T - the one blower that joins the trimmer and arborist-saw family here rather than using its own plug.
Plug or cap - two different orders
The spark plug cap (the rubber boot the ignition lead plugs into) is a separate part from the plug, and it is the thing people reorder by mistake when the real fault was a fouled or worn plug underneath it. Echo's cap for the 21-25cc and CS-series family is A427000013, fitting SRM-225/265/266 and the CS-370/400/420ES/520/530/550P/600P/670 group. The 33cc-class machines use a different cap, A427000190, matching the SRM-3020/CS-2511/T302 platform.
If the engine has a strong spark at the plug tip but still won't fire, the cap is rarely the fault - a cracked cap shows as an intermittent miss, not a dead no-start. Test for spark as described on the won't-start page before ordering either part.
A cap and plug that both test fine but still return no spark at all point further back, to the coil itself - see Echo ignition coil for the number by engine family.
