Echo String Trimmer Parts
An Echo string trimmer has perhaps eight parts that ever need replacing, and they fail on predictable schedules. Knowing which is which turns a machine that seems to be dying into one that needs twenty dollars of consumables.
This page is the map. Each part links through to the detail - fitment, numbers and what the alternatives are worth.
Compare the Full Lineup
What wears, and how often
| Part | Replace when | Typical interval |
|---|---|---|
| Trimmer line | Runs out, or snaps repeatedly at the head | Continuously; buy in large spools |
| Air filter | Visibly dirty, or engine runs rich | Every season at minimum |
| Trimmer head | Eyelets worn oval, bump knob flat, spool cracked | Every few seasons, sooner with square line |
| Spark plug | Fouled, or as routine service | Every season or two |
| Fuel lines and primer bulb | Hard, cracked, or bulb will not hold fuel | Every few years - they perish with age, not use |
| In-tank fuel filter | Engine dies under throttle but idles fine | Every few years |
| Carburettor | Everything above is good and it still will not tune | Rarely - usually cleans rather than replaces |
The pattern worth noticing: the rubber parts fail with age rather than hours. A trimmer used twice a season for five years needs them as much as one used weekly.
Parts cross models more than you would expect
Echo built families around shared engines, and the consumables follow the engine rather than the badge. One air filter, A226001410, covers the SRM-210, SRM-211 and SRM-225 trimmers, the GT-200 and GT-201, the PAS-225 power head, the PE-225 edger, the PB-200 blower and a dozen more.
The practical consequences: a listing that does not name your model may still be the right part, and a filter bought for the trimmer will fit the blower in the same shed. What does not cross is anything past the clutch - heads, blades and shafts are machine-specific.
The SRM-225 page has the full fitment lists, because that family has the widest crossover of any.

Where to start when it stops working
If it will not start or will not stay running, the fault is on the engine side and there is a cheapest-first order to check things - see won't start.
If it runs fine but cuts badly, the fault is downstream: a worn head, or line that is old, brittle or the wrong diameter for the head.
Those two branches cover almost everything. It is genuinely uncommon for the answer to be a part that is not on this page.
